Cadence policy

Privacy Policy

Cadence ("we," "our," or "the app") is a speech fluency tool that helps you speak with clarity and confidence. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can control it.

What We Collect

When you use Cadence, we collect the following:

  • Audio recordings — Captured on-device when you record a speaking session. Sent to our servers for analysis only.
  • Account and profile information — Depending on how you sign in, this can include your name, email address, phone number, authentication-provider identifier, and a Google profile-image URL.
  • User ID — A unique Cadence identifier created when your account is set up.
  • Speaking-session content and progress — Transcripts, analysis results, session counts, fluency scores, filler-word metrics, reports, and streak information used to provide analysis and track your progress.
  • Purchase and entitlement information — Subscription product, status, and related transaction or entitlement identifiers used to provide and restore Premium access. We do not receive your complete payment-card details.
  • Product analytics — Content-free records of in-app actions such as completing onboarding, finishing an analysis, or being shown a prompt. These are linked to your user ID and tell us which parts of Cadence are working. They never include audio, transcripts, or the words you spoke.
  • Technical, diagnostic, and security information — App/device information, crash and reliability diagnostics, and authentication security records. Security records can include an IP address (which can imply approximate location) and an email address, phone number, or provider identity used to limit abusive sign-in attempts.

How Audio Is Handled

Your audio is encrypted on-device before being sent to our servers. Once there, it is processed by our speech recognition model to detect filler words and generate your fluency score. Audio is never stored on our servers. It is processed in memory and discarded immediately after analysis completes.

On-Device Storage

Session results (transcripts, scores, and filler word data) can be stored locally on your device, encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is managed by the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore and never leaves your device. To deliver results reliably when analysis finishes asynchronously, we temporarily cache the analysis result, including its transcript, on our servers for up to 24 hours. The cache is automatically deleted after that period and is deleted immediately when you delete your account.

Authentication

Cadence supports Google (OAuth 2.0), Apple Sign-In on supported platforms, email, and phone verification. We receive and retain the account details required to create and secure your account, which may include the profile-image URL Google supplies. Phone numbers and verification requests are processed by our SMS verification provider. We do not access your contacts, calendar, or unrelated provider data.

These providers process data to deliver services to Cadence. We do not use advertising SDKs or sell personal information.

No Tracking

Cadence does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs — the product analytics described above are collected by our own servers and are used only to improve the app.

How Long We Keep Data

Account, profile, subscription-entitlement, progress, report, and product-analytics records are kept while your account is active and are removed when you delete the account, except for limited records we must retain for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, dispute resolution, or other legal obligations. Raw audio is not stored. Complete analysis results and transcripts can remain in the delivery cache for up to 24 hours. Authentication rate-limit records are used only for short 15-minute or one-hour security windows and are pruned after those windows during subsequent authentication traffic. Service providers may retain limited operational records under their own retention rules and our agreements with them.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile tab in the app. You can also request account deletion on the web if you no longer have the app. When you delete your account:

  • Your user record, linked sign-in methods, authentication tokens, progress data, reports, product analytics, device tokens, and cached analysis results are permanently removed from our servers.
  • In the app, you can choose whether to also clear encrypted session history stored on that device. A web deletion request cannot access storage on a device you still possess.

Data Security

All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Audio is encrypted on-device before transmission. Session data is encrypted at rest on your device using AES-256-GCM with a Keychain- or Keystore-managed key. Server-side data is stored in an encrypted database volume.

Children's Privacy

Cadence is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
